The level of Readiness of the Jordanian institutions and citizens to use services of E- government

This study focuses on the level of readiness of the Jordanian institutions to use the electronic services, and the extent to which Jordanian citizens interact with these services provided by the e-government through its official website http//www.jordan.gov.jo.The aim of the study is to identify the extent to these services are im- plemented, what types of services are available, and the most important obstacles and constraints that surround the readiness of the Jordanian and citizens. In this context, the study used random sample of benefi- ciaries of e-government services (users and employees).The study concluded that, there are many challenges and constraints that surrounded Jordanian e-government project. Among those chal- lenges and constraints which are, the high cost of the internet services, the downing level of internet services and the incompatibility of the current communication infrastructure to match the requirements for the e-government. In addition to the lack of trust of citizens towards in- formation security fear over privacy issues, let alone the weak levels of social and cultural conscious over the concepts and applicability of e-government. Lastly, the lack of financial allocations necessary to take up the e-government projects.Therefore, the study recommended the following; firstly, lowering the cost of the internet services, secondly, upgrading the internet services to meet the government e-government orientation, thirdly, working to- wards spreading social and cultural awareness of e-government con- cepts and applications and availing the necessary financial allocations towards the e-government. Finally, providing training for human per- sonnel for e-government is very important.
