Abstract

The first transformation in military training was associated with the emergence of the officer corps during the 17th century, and commanders' training was purely physical until scientific education emerged due to advances in the mechanical industry, engineering and communication sciences. Then came the second transformation phase, through the establishment of military academies to train more ready and professional military officers and commanders. With the emergence of the digital revolution in military affairs and the accompanying development of digital technologies, information systems, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, communications, robotics and integrated systems; we start to talk about the formation of the third stage of transformation in military training. The study discusses the main literature on the subject in order to identify the changes brought about by the digital revolution in military affairs on the concepts and content related to the cognitive aspect of military science and education, using a historical approach that studied the evolution of the study variables, and a case study approach to focus on military education at all levels through the lens of the digital revolution in military affairs. The study found that the armed forces require a revolutionary approach to education and training that deals with modern technologies such as cyber and electronic warfare, the understanding of remote engagement rules, the use of electronic media, and knowledge of centralised network warfare , command and control systems. There is a radical change taking place in which the tank and the fighter aircraft will no longer play a central role, but there will be a move towards greater use of electromagnetic weapons and precision technologies.
