The impact of military technical developments on scientific research requirements in military academies

Abstract

The New military technical developments, led to a number of transformations that redirected the compass of strategic thinking towards the importance of the military force element, as a one of state’s power. Therefore, the study aimed to evaluate the role of scientific research in military academies, in the light of military technologic revolution, and its importance, as well, the challenges of scientific research related to security and defense studies, also what is the nature of these developments that require inclusion in scientific research. Based on descriptive analytical method and historical methods, the study discussed a number of independent variables and concluded that scientific research in military academies contributed to enriching the process of military technical developments, scientific research was able to employ it in developing Military Thought, which was directly reflected in defense policies, combat doctrines, organizational structures, and training and armament systems in the national armies. The study recommended; supporting scientific research in military academies; making the most of its outputs, by allocating sufficient financial and incentive resources for scientific research specialized in military affairs; adopting continuous qualification and development programs to raise the efficiency of military researchers in the field of modern technologies and research leadership, and strengthening strategic partnerships with local and international research bodies to accelerate the transfer of knowledge and expertise.
